Enthusiast Orchestra
The participatory project
09 JUNE 2024
Nothing can shake true enthusiasts! That's why the Enthusiast Orchestra, which was actually founded two years ago, is taking a new approach and is now making up for its debut. With this project, the Alte Oper is targeting all those who would like to bring their skills on their instrument into a music-making community and, together with others, put on an orchestra concert in the Great Hall of the Alte Oper.
Become a part of the orchestra!
You play an orchestra instrument as an advanced layman? Would you like to sit on the podium of the Great Hall in the orchestra and participate in a concert? You can keep two weekends free in April and June 2024 for rehearsals and a concert in Frankfurt? Then you too can become part of our colorful European community, united by a love of music, and apply for a place in the orchestra!
Well led
We deliberately leave these two positions to the professionals: on the conductor's podium is Michael Sanderling, a renowned artistic personality in the classical music world - he has been chief conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra since the 2021/22 season. Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna will be the soloist, playing the organ part in Camille Saint-Saëns' Third Symphony.

The application deadline is November 30, 2023. We will publish the detailed conditions of participation and modalities here in the coming weeks.
